Footix - Official Mascot 1998 FIFA World Cup in France.

Footix was the official mascot of the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France. It was the 16th FIFA World Cup, the world championship for men's national association football teams. It was held in France from 10 June to 12 July 1998.
Footix was a rooster (a male chicken), firstly presented in May 1996, the most representative and socially accepted symbol by the French; a roster also appears on the shield of the French Football Association. It was created by graphic designer Fabrice Pialot. Footix name was the result of the combination of the word “football” in French, and the memory of a superhero that keeps alive on the comic, Asterix the Gaul and chosen by French television viewers. The mascot's colours are a red crest, blue feathers and a yellow beak. It reflects those of the host nation's flag and home strip and also accompanied by a “Tricolore” (the official ball for that year’s World Cup).
