The Coyote - Mascot of the San Antonio Spurs (NBA)

The Coyote is the official mascot of the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was signed by the San Antonio Spurs to be their official mascot in June of 1983. Since then, the Coyote has become just as recognizable as some of the Spurs' greatest players, such as George Gervin, David Robinson, and Tim Duncan.

In his career The Coyote has been named the NBA's MVV (Most Valuable Varmint) 12 times. He was voted Mascot of the Year by www.gameops.com in 2006. He's been making over 400 community appearances a year and serving as a valuable goodwill ambassador for the Spurs. In recognition of his hard work on and off the court, he was inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame in 2007. In recognition of his hard work on and off the court, the Coyote was inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame in 2007, the same year the Spurs won their 4th NBA Championship.

Powder, Copper and Coal are the official mascots of the  2002 Winter Olympics, officially the XIX Olympic Winter Games, were a winter multi-sport event that was celebrated in February 2002 in and around Salt Lake City, Utah, United States.

Powder - A Snowshoe Hare, represents the Native American legend when the sun was too close to the earth and was burning it. Powder is the only female of the trio, and represents Faster/Swifter from the Olympic motto.

Copper - A Coyote, represents the Native American legend when the earth froze and turned dark, the coyote climbed to the highest mountaintop and stole a flame from the fire people. Copper represents Higher from the Olympic motto.

Coal - An American black bear, represents the Native American legend of a group of hunters who were never able to kill a mighty bear. Coal represents Stronger from the Olympic motto. (source: link)
